Social Impact Assessment

SIA of Hinchinbrook Highway Bypass Project, Queensland Australia

Project Description

As part of a master’s coursework project, our team conducted a social impact assessment (SIA) for a proposed highway corridor in response to local stakeholders advocating for an alternative route closer to Ingham township and beachside communities. The assessment aimed to evaluate the social impacts of both the existing Western 2A Deviation alignment and the proposed eastern alternative. Our findings will support the department’s two-year investigation and community consultation to determine the most feasible alignment, with no current funding allocated for design or construction.
